Hamilton was born on August 28, 1958 in Toledo, Ohio. It is a somersault-type jump, and as per the ISU's rulebook, two points are deducted from a skater's score for performing such a move. Later, Surya Bonaly landed the backflip on one foot at the 1998 Nagano Olympics, even though the move was still considered illegal. She did it to get the crowd. The championship that year was cancelled on account of the plane carrying the U.S. team crashed.
